This position will focus on enabling and enforcement of engineering best practices, as well as recruitment of technical resources including, but not limited to developers, testers, scrum masters, technical writers, product owners etc.

Your days will be filled with the following type duties:

  • Leading the development teams
    • Ownership of the development team
    • Ensure that all development team members are performing at a highly-functional pace
    • Assists in the growth of the technical education of the development team
    • Assess the skill levels of each team member and coordinate goals that are align with the organization to improve their skills
    • Work with development teams as a technical lead to provide experience in solving complex technical problems using the frameworks
  • Support the product development process
    • Works with Director of Enterprise Architecture to ensure the development teams are leveraging and extending the platform based on documented technical best practices.
    • Participate in daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos, and other Scrum-related meetings as needed
  • Work with finance to create monthly CapEx report for all development teams
  • Support the development teams
    • Create career goals and perform weekly 1:1s with team leads
    • Perform semi-annual performance review with feedback for areas of improvement
    • Identify team structures and adapt to changes in a structured manner
    • Recruit new resources by providing technical and team culture assessments of potential candidates.
    • Train new resources on platform capabilities and best practices
    • Participate proactively in developing and maintaining technical standards, tools, and best practices.

Experience Required:

  • Ability to understand technical issues at a high level.
  • A thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
  • Full life cycle experience, responsible for the development of a complete set of architectural views for an enterprise in accordance with one of the more common architecture frameworks
  • Strong business analysis skills and experience, including development of business vision and strategies, functional decomposition, requirements capture, process modelling
  • Strong knowledge of leadership styles and communication techniques
  • Experience of software development methodologies and structured approaches to system development
  • Awareness of systems management and operational support tools
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to coach the team to reach their highest potential.
  • Collaborative approach to driving decisions.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail.

Education/Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development.
  • Experience with large scale SaaS platforms.
  • 5+ years of development manager experience
  • High level of knowledge regarding software development tools, methodologies, standards, best practices.
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft web and data storage technologies including .NET Framework and SQL Server
